They say variety is the spice of life. And Music washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life. So what happens when you combine music and variety? You get Six Strings Club in historic downtown Bloomington. Sprouting from country roots, this little neighborhood bar has grown into a bustling watering hole where patrons can choose from a wide variety of strong, flavorful liquor or ice cold beer.
If you have enough of those liquid libations you might go in for open mic night every Tuesday. Or you might just prefer to hit the dance floor to groove to the sounds of house band Tailgate and other live performers. The acts are as varied as the drink specials with country/current dance mixes on Thursday, Americana/Folk on Wednesday, and a combination of Indi, Rock, and Country on the weekends.
And with this special you can pass right by the employee collecting the cover charge because your cover charge is, well, covered. This special will get you in for a Six Strings sponsored band, and they sponsor a lot of popular favorites and up-and-comers. You’ll want to get there early because this place gets CROWDED as the night wears on and folks are looking for a good time. Because people know this is THE place to come for a good time.

About Six Strings
It’s part weight loss program, part meeting new people and ALL fun.
You know Six Strings as the perfect place to enjoy a cold brew with your friends and listen to some of the finest music in town.
But on Tuesday and Thursday’s it’s also a dance studio, featuring dance instructor, Lynn Rolph.
And these are not your Achy Breaky Heart country line dancing lessons. Lynn will get you moving to all kinds of beats and all types of music including Country, Oldies, Latin, and more. Dance steps taught include Cha Cha, Two Step, Night Club, Rumba, Mambo, and Waltz.
Come with a posse, grab your favorite cowboy or cowgirl, or come alone and get ready to meet lots of new friends. You just have to be able to follow very simple dance steps that Lynn will string together which could land you in the next Alan Jackson video.
Lynn uses progressive training concepts with repetition to help you learn and understand basic dance step patterns and terminology. Anyone can do it. It’s like stringing syllables together to make words, then stringing words together to make sentences. One minute you’re following a few simple steps and the next minute you’re dancing.
With wedding season coming up, wouldn’t this be a great time to get the whole wedding party together to learn some fun dances. Or, you know you’re going to be attending a lot of weddings this year. Now’s the time to brush up on (or learn) how to bust a move. And the great thing about the dance lessons at Six Strings, you know alcohol is always close at hand. Dancing is fun. Dancing and drinking is more fun. And now you can enjoy some delicious appetizers with Six String's new food menu.
When you make your class reservation, choose from either the beginner class on Tuesdays or the easy intermediate class on Thursdays. Classes start at 6:00 on Tuesdays or Thursdays and typically run until about 8:30 or 9:00. Plan to bring leather soled shoes or dance shoes. Rubber soled shoes tend to stick to the floor making it difficult to make turns. Duct tape on the bottom of rubber soled shoes also works well.
