As Oscar Wilde puts it “Nothing succeeds like excess.” We suppose that applies to almost every aspect of life. Can Snooki be too tan? Can there be too many Law and Order spin-offs. Can one open-face pot roast sandwich really fill your belly?

We say no!

And so does Country Pride Restaurant, perhaps better known as the truck stop restaurant, located just off Market Street, at 505 Truckers Lane.

If you find yourself on the way to Peoria, you’ve gone too far. Turn around and come back and take the access road, because you can’t beat their food, or their quantities.

To say the portions are large is an understatement. The portions are ALL YOU CAN EAT. Literally. Whatever you order, they will just keep bringing dish after dish until you’re full. Let’s say it’s 6 a.m. and you have a hankerin’ for a ham and cheese omelet. So your waitress brings you a fluffy three egg omelet stuffed with diced ham and American cheese. And toast. And she will keep bringing you omelets and toast till you say “uncle”.

The same goes for the Montana Cowboy Burger, the San Antonio Turkey Wrap, the Chicken Fried Steak Dinner…it is ALL YOU CAN EAT. ALL THE TIME. We feel that we have to keep telling you this. Because much like a price check at those dollar stores, it’s always gone to be the same answer. YES, it’s all you can eat.

So imagine if you will. It’s 3 a.m. in the morning. You and your buddies have had a long night at the …. Bingo parlor. Sure, let’s go with that. You need some food—stat—because you’ve had a little too much of say N 27. Did we mention it’s 3 a.m.? Sure, there are a few 24-hour drive-thru’s, but let’s face it, Bingo and driving don’t mix. Besides, you could easily drop $7 for a burger and fries and soda and that doesn’t even begin to take the edge off your hunger.

You could eat 20 burgers (except for the fact that you don’t have $140). So you pull into Country Pride. Pour yourself into one of their comfy booths. And the food and the hot, fresh coffee just keep on comin’. As long as you’ve got the band width too take in the grub, they’ll fix it up and serve it to you.

Sound like heaven. It is. Heaven on a plate. And endless plate.

Valid 6/17/11-6/17/12. Not to be combined with other offers or discounts. One per table or party. Cannot be used for alcohol. No cash back or credit for unused portion. No cash value. Tax and gratuity not included. No refunds. All sales are final.
